In DevOps, ‘Shift-Left’ testing proactively integrates security and bug detection early into the Build and Code phases, enhancing the overall quality and security of the product.

Borrowing Tariq King’s words from his article AI Shift-Left, Test Right: “It starts with understanding that a good testing strategy for AI must be holistic, and include the perspectives of product, engineering, data science, testing, performance, security, operations and the end user community.”

Testing often happens at the pre-production stage. However, AI product managers must incorporate an AI testing strategy that demands collaboration across a wide array of stakeholders — from product teams and engineers to data scientists and end-users. The aim is to create AI solutions that are not only ethical and secure but also data-driven and in tune with user needs. Moreover, navigating the complexities of AI problem-solving, such as algorithm selection, data management, and ongoing testing, is crucial for delivering exceptional AI-powered products.
